Callis Grange has received The Green Flag award four times with the latest being on 1st November 2016.
The assessor commented: “Well done Callis Grange Nursery and Infant School! The enthusiasm and energy from all involved is enlightening. Much of their eco work appears to be effortless as it is so embedded in the day to day running of the school. Other projects are imaginative and well executed with long lasting benefits for the school and for the environment. Keep up the good work!”
A Rare Find at Callis – Oct 2017
The School Council has just received the ‘Speaker’s School Council Award’ for all of the Eco-Work it has undertaken. See the award here:
Here is the School Council presentation to the rest of the school:
Eco-Schools is an international programme that provides a structured approach to environmental education.
There are nine topics which are used for the Environmental Review and linking the programme into the curriculum.
The Eco-Schools topics are:
- Waste minimisation
- Healthy Living
- School grounds
- Global perspective
The Eco-School Action Team work together with the Healthy Schools Working Group and our School Council. Our Action Plan, which is monitored and evaluated and linked to the curriculum, involves the whole school and the wider community. We also have an Eco-Code to help everyone remember our commitment to being an Eco-School.
Callis Grange achieved the Eco-School “Green Flag” status in 2012, 2014 and again in 2016.
This prestigious award will be reassessed and hopefully re-accredited every 2 years.
