Healthy Schools

Healthier children do better in learning and in life. By enabling children to make positive changes in their behaviour regarding health and well-being, we will be helping them to reach their full potential in terms of achievement and fulfilment, as well as encourage good habits which will benefit them both now and in the future.

Callis has gone beyond having National Healthy School Status, as we have demonstrated that we have met the criteria, established and maintained a foundation for health and well-being and continued to meet the criteria through a whole school approach.

Callis is an Enhanced Healthy School.

Free Fruit

As part of our Healthy Schools initiative we participate in the ‘Fruit and Vegetable Scheme’. This is a government programme which entitles all our children to a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. The aim is to increase fruit and vegetable consumption in order to reduce the risk of heart disease. The children have a positive and enjoyable experience of eating fruit and vegetables and the school encourages positive attitudes to healthy eating.

Water Bottles

As part of our Healthy Schools initiative, Callis Grange Water Bottles form part of the equipment required by the children and are available from the school office for £1.50
